Keep Your Hair Color Looking Amazing In 5 Simple Ways

Hey Everyone! Today I wanted to tell you
"How To Keep Your Hair Color Looking Amazing In 5 Simple Ways."
Some of the biggest concerns I hear when a client comes in to get their hair colored is;
how fast the color fades and how their hair feels & looks a few weeks after their appointment.
The maintenance & work doesn't just happen in the salon, you have to be proactive when it comes to keeping your hair color looking and feeling its best. Below I am sharing with you my 5 simple ways to keep your hair color looking amazing after you leave the salon... Let's get started.

1.
After you get your hair colored at the salon, do not wash your hair with shampoo 48-72 hours after your appointment.

- You need to allow your hair color time to settle in. When you immediately wash your hair the next day after your appointment, you risk your hair color rinsing out of the hair strands and watching your money go right down the drain.

2.
After the 48-72 hours is up when you shampoo your hair, make sure the temperature of the water is lukewarm to cold.

- When washing color treated hair you need to keep in mind that the hair strands are now covered with color. When you wash your hair with hot water you will open up the hair cuticle which will make the hair fade faster.

3.
Turn down the heat and throw your hair up.

-First, get your hair on a schedule. In doing this, you are giving your hair a break from the constant styling and heat damage.
For example, wear your hair natural hair on Monday, curl your hair Tuesday, put your hair up Wednesday, straighten your hair Thursday, put your hair up on Friday.

- In the case of a client who comes in to get a gorgeous icy blonde color and immediately the next days turns up her straightener to the highest heat it goes and begins to the straighten a section of the hair, you are risking multiple things...
*Frying off the previously lightened hair
*Discoloring the previously lightened hair
*Leaving the hair color looking damaged

-For the client with dark hair, avoid over using hot tools on your hair because colored hair is more sensitive to heat. You have just put chemicals on your hair and when you combine that with way too high of heat, you are risking damaging your hair, leaving your hair dry or frying it off and also lifting the hair color because you are essential cooking it.

4.
Avoid swimming pools and too much sun exposure.

-Swimming pools contain chlorine which strips the natural oils away from your hair which leaves the hair color looking dry and feeling brittle.

-Just like your skin, your hair can get sunburnt as well. Make sure to wear a hat if you plan to be outside for long periods of time with color treated hair to prevent the discoloring and damage of your newly treated hair.

5.
Choose the right shampoo and conditioner for your specific hair needs.

For a blonde client:
It will help keep your blonde hair toned to a nice icy color if that is what you prefer.
I think this is the best shampoo for blondes who do not need the extra tone enhancer but want to still keep their blonde, blonde.
Love this because it moisturizes, detangles and leaves the hair very manageable.

My ride or die shampoo and conditioner combo
for hair that has been colored & hair that has not:
I love this combo because they are low ph shampoo/conditioner, its a gentle cleaner which helps decrease color loss & loss of vibrancy. Also, both shampoo/conditioners are paraben free!
